How to Get a Jump Start on Back to School

Have you ever braved the “Back to School” section of a store right before school starts in the Fall? (And you survived to tell the tale?? Amazing!!) Last year when I went in to shop for my kids school supplies it was a MADHOUSE! There was barely any room to walk through the aisles, let alone push your cart through the crowds. Now, I’m an extrovert and all, but that was just too much for me!
I ended up going home and ordering online for pick up in-store or ordering from Amazon. Then I panicked that I wouldn’t receive the supplies in time for the start of school. But this year, I am getting a jump start. No last minute panic for me of making sure I was able to find items to fill the entire teacher supply list. And no stress about taking my 3 kids with me into the craziness of the “Back to School” section of the store and losing them amongst the crowds. I am going to order the bulk of the items with Amazon Prime and take advantage of the free shipping. (If you haven’t signed up, you totally should. Try out Amazon Prime with a 30-Day free trial, just click here .)
At our school, each teacher sends out their own supply list for their classroom. So this year, I’ll have 3 kids in elementary school and 3 different supply lists to purchase from. Since we don’t get teacher assignments (and final supply lists) till closer to the start of school, I’ll be ordering general supplies that I know will be needed/used in class. And, lucky for me, the school has provided general supply lists so we can get a head start. These same supplies are likely to be on your supply lists too.
Why don’t you join me and get a jump start on back to school supplies! Don’t wait till last minute. Believe me, it gets too stressful. The following is a consolidated list of what our Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 5th grade lists included. I like to order larger quantities at better prices and split them out between the kids to take to school, some to keep at home for mid-year supply requests (yes, it happens frequently!) and a couple for use at home.
Click on the links below for easy ordering:
Hand Sanitizer – Our school is requesting 12 oz. or larger.
(The below items were included on the supply lists for my older kids, but not on the Kindergarten list.)
Pencils – Our school is requesting these in sets of 12. You can buy them pre-sharpened or sharpen yourselves.
Highlighters – We are ordering this multi-colored pack and splitting them up.
I have found if you order a larger pack and the teachers don’t need your entire stock this year, you can always have them ready for next year and be well ahead of the curve.
Happy Shopping! 🙂
