It is Holiday time again!  It is a time for a spirit of love and giving. To help you prepare your holiday wish lists and find great gifts for those you love, I’ve put together a list of favorite, practical must-have items from our family.  Plus, I’ve added a few new things that I want for myself and think you might want them too!

Holiday Gifts for People Like to Cook

Instant Pot and Accessories

If you haven’t noticed by now, I love my Instant Pot.  I use it all the time. It is a huge time saver and I pretty much feel like it is hitting the “Easy” button. Food is just magically ready.  Well, maybe not magic. But it really has made a huge difference in making things easier in the kitchen.  If you or someone you are buying for is strapped for time and looking to make life easier in the kitchen, I highly recommend getting the Instant Pot.  This is the one I have.

I also really recommend getting extra sealing rings.  I know from first-hand experience that cooking meat in the Instant Pot can discolor and leave the sealing ring more on the savory side.  So when I use my Instant Pot to cook oatmeal, cranberry sauce, yogurt, etc. I use my other ring.  It just keeps the food tasting as it should.

I also recommend the glass top if you choose to use your Instant Pot’s slow cooking or sauté functions so you can see what is happening to your foods.

Food Processor

I got one of these for my wedding and didn’t use it for years.  Now I wonder why I ever put myself through the torture of grating cheese or slicing carrots myself.  I use it to make hummus, nut butters, and even chocolate treats.  No way could I live without it! Mine is starting to wear out, so I’m looking at this one to replace it.  (Hint, Hint Santa!)  Once again, anyone looking for the “Easy” button should have one of these!

Salad Bottle

I use this all the time to make my favorite mustard vinaigrette salad dressing, but it even has salad dressing recipes right on the bottle  It is inexpensive and could even be a stocking stuffer for the foodie(s) in your life.

Glass Measuring Cups

I’ve been wanting a set of these for a while.  No need to worry about the plastic melting if you need to heat up the liquid that you are measuring.  A great practical gift for the kitchen!

Pyrex Baking Dishes

These are my favorites ever.  They can go in the dishwasher and are great for all kinds of baking (cake, brownies, roasting veggies, cooking meat, etc.).  The fact that they have lids is so awesome.  That means I don’t have extra dishes if all the enchiladas aren’t eaten at dinner. And I love not having extra dishes, lol! If you don’t have a set of these, you totally need to add them to your list.

Silicone Baking Liners

I have a set of 24 of the regular sized liners and think I need more.  Clean up is a little bit more than just throwing away a paper liner, but then again I don’t have to run out and buy paper cupcake/muffin liners every time I want to bake.  They definitely save me when I’m baking in the evening and the kids are already in bed. No need to postpone baking or get the kids out of bed to run to the store.  Plus, I use them for packing my kids lunches.  I make homemade Lunchables and use them to separate the lunch meat and cheese in their lunch containers.

Regular Sized

Jumbo Sized

Jumbo Muffin Tin

I don’t have one of these yet, but the kids keep asking for me to make big muffins like restaurants/bakeries have.  I can’t decide between getting a silicone one or standard stainless steel with silicone liners, so I’ve got them both listed here in case you want to choose too!

Holiday Gifts for Her

Bath Bombs

Who doesn’t love a nice relaxing bath???  I don’t know many people who wouldn’t enjoy these!  You could give them as a set, or split them up into smaller gifts.  I’m thinking these would be a great Christmas gift for teachers.  They need some relaxation too!

Eye Pillow

For those times that we have headaches or just need a little extra help relaxing, this eye pillow definitely sounds like it will fit the bill.  (Actually, just hearing my kids not sleeping right now makes me want one this very instant!)

Holiday Gifts for Him

Trimmers

My husband has had a goatee or beard for the majority of the time that we have been married and we have come to be very thankful for the nice trimmer set he got from my mom one Christmas.  It is great for keeping beards, mustaches, and goatees looking great.  But it also comes in handy when we want to clean up his neckline in between haircuts.  Great for a practical, thoughtful gift for men!

Electric Screwdriver

You have no idea how often this comes in handy!  My husband has this and loves it.  It makes the repair or building of whatever he is working on go so much faster.  Perfect for the handy (and not so handy) among us!

Holiday Gifts for Kids

Mermaid Tails

I know my girls are not alone in being enchanted with mermaids.  They watch any mermaid show or movie they can get their hands on.  And I know that they would love to become a mermaid if given the chance.  And with these beautifully crocheted mermaid tails, they can be a mermaid and cozy up on the couch with a book or watching Ariel learn to walk. Can’t beat practical and cute!

Hatchimals

My girls got these for birthday presents this year and are begging for more.  Did you know that they have twin Hatchimals now?  The girls love being part of the hatching process and love their new pets.  In all honesty, I’m not a fan of their chirping, but the girls love them, so I can tolerate it for short periods before they go play in their rooms. (Haha!) I don’t know how practical these are, but the girls sure love them!

Hatchimals Game

Now this one is a winner!  My girls are obsessed with this game.  It is super simple and fun.  It has barely visited its place in our game closet since the girls are playing with it non-stop!

Minecraft for PC/MAC

This is the game that keeps on giving.  While I am not very big on video games, my husband and son love them.  And Minecraft has topped the charts in our house for years.  Even my girls play.  I was just mentioning to my mom how great a learning lesson Minecraft has been, since they have learned to type in order to play the game or chat with my husband as he helped them build a pet store (true story!).

Kids Sleeping Bags

We are looking into getting some sleeping bags for our kids.  Since we live in California and they would likely be in indoor or very mild weather, these sleeping bags look great!  There is a huge variety of colors and reviews say that the insides are nice and soft.  I think these are a great gift idea for living room camp outs or nights spent with the grandparents!

Holiday Gifts for Book Lovers

A Man Called Ove

I was a little late to the game on this book.  I usually try to borrow as many books as possible from the library since it helps to cut down on costs, and I think I was 412th on the hold list!  But I finally got the book and finished it yesterday.  It was so amazing.  I only keep copies of books that I love and want to read again. And now I want a hard copy of A Man Called Ove.  It really touched my heart.  And I highly recommend it!

Little House on the Prairie series

These are definite classics! I read these while in elementary school and my oldest daughter just got the series for a birthday gift.  They are a wonderful set and always made me wish to live in the 1800’s. Laura Ingalls was a treasured friend and I never even watched the TV show!

Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series

My 10-year-old son is really into mythology.  He reads all he can about the various Greek, Norse and Roman myths.  And he really loves these two series.  They are fun and action-packed. Great gifts that encourage the love of reading!

I really didn’t want to jump on the Instant Pot bandwagon last year, but I’m so glad I did! Also, “A Man Called Ove” is a great book! I can somewhat identify with Ove…haha!
